What is a synthetic asset?
- A synthetic asset is simply a tokenized derivative that mimics the value of another asset.
This is different from owning the underlying asset. Synths provide exposure to assets that are normally inaccessible to the average crypto investor — gold, silver, stocks, etc.
Synths are different from tokenized commodities, such as Paxos’ PAX Gold (PAXG), which is backed by gold bars.
Owning PAXG means that you own the gold that Paxos holds for you, whereas owning Synthetics means that you do not own the underlying asset — you merely have exposure to the price of gold. As protocol’s design, each synthetic asset is collateralized by its target token and a part of SSX, for example, aUSDC = 90% value in USDC + 10% value in SSX.

What is the SpaceShipX Finance Project?
SpaceShipX is a synthetics platform where you can earn extra yield on your favorite tokens. The first synthetic token will be MLP from Mad Meerkat Finance on Polygon.
The protocol’s main feature is minting/redeeming partially-collateralized synthetic assets which are backed by the underlying asset and the protocol’s native token.
Mission is to build a full ecosystem to support synthetic assets (DEX, Lending, Launchpad, Games, and more).
